We at Love in the Name of Christ (Love INC), are blessed to be part of a Peninsula churches’ ministry of Christ reaching out to our community and particularly those who are in need or have been disenfranchised or are alone. On a daily basis we meet people who have little or no experience with churches, whose faith is faltering or have no idea what a faith walk is. This summer in anticipation of holiday scheduling, we determined while there are several opportunities to celebrate Thanksgiving within our community, there is virtually no community-wide celebrations for Jesus’ birthday. We would like to remedy this and model our Christian faith, walk and practices and celebrate our love of God.
Churches have received a preliminary e-mail regarding this thought We want to march forward and hold an organizational meeting on September 25, 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Love INC office on 44410 K-Beach Road (the old pet store between the Baptist Church and Heather and Heather T-Shirts).
Please bring your ideas and anyone interested in volunteering and participating in this Best of all Seasons. It has been a number of years since we’ve had an event/gathering and we want to show our love for our friends and neighbors whether they be clients, supporters, donors, church members or anyone wanting to celebrate the birth of Christ.
We are tentatively planning on December 22 or December 23, 2017, for our Christmas celebration. Preliminarily, we are planning a Christmas “feast” – turkey, hams, cookies and any side dishes people want to bring. Christmas socks for distribution (several hundred socks to be filled by churches?). Christmas music – including musicians in the area and Christmas carols, perhaps even a Christmas play, outdoor activities with cider and hot chocolate? We want this to be an evening of joy, laughter, and acceptance for people. We would like this to be the first of many years’ of celebrations.
Please bring your ideas, fellow workers and attend this organizational meeting on September 25, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.
